Boat Launch
The Village has a boat launch available on Riverview Drive. Use of the launch is regulated through the purchase of a sticker. The two year sticker can be purchased at the Village Hall for a cost of $20 ($10 good for 2024 only) for Village residents and $100 ($50 good for 2024 only) for non-residents. The regulations governing the boat launch can be found under Chapter 8 of the Johnsburg Municipal Code.
Alfred May Park & Boat Launch is on Riverview Drive, best accessed by going East Channel Beach Avenue from Johnsburg Road, then South on Riverview Drive.
Building
A building permit is required for a deck only when updating or replacing the posts/joists that are in the ground. If you are just replacing the deck boards or railings no permit is required.
Building Permits are required for all new construction, additions, alterations to structural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, decks, siding, roofing, fireplaces, demolition, driveways and culverts, fences, sheds, piers, seawalls, relocation of structures, signs, above ground and in ground pools including hot tubs and changing out windows and doors if altering size. If in doubt, please check with the Village Hall before starting any work.

Garbage
The Village's refuse and recycling contractor recognizes New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day as holidays. If any of the above holidays fall on a week day, pick up will be on Saturdays.
General

The following curfew hours apply to persons under the age of 17, unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult, or engaged in some lawful business or occupation. 12:00 midnight Friday night until 6:00 am Saturday; 12:00 midnight Saturday night until 6:00 am Sunday; 11:00 pm until 6:00 am all other days of the week.
The Village Hall is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Trick or Treating will be October 31st from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Parking
There is no parking allowed on any Village street from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. or whenever two or more inches of snow is expected. If you are having work performed on your driveway and you must park on the road, notify the Johnsburg Police Department - Frontline prior or citations could be issued.
Pets
A total of no more than four dogs, cats or other household domestic animals over four months of age are allowed in a residential dwelling unit.
The Johnsburg Municipal Code adopts and incorporates the Animal Control Ordinance for the County of McHenry.

Vehicles
Vehicle stickers are not required. For residents who wish to display a vehicle sticker, the Village has voluntary vehicle stickers available. The two year sticker can be purchased at the Village Hall for a cost of $20.
Burning
Burning in the Village is restricted to on site generated yard waste and is allowed only during weekends in the months of April, May, October and November from dawn to dusk. Burning must be at least 100 feet from any habitual structure and 50 feet from any accessory structure. 3' x 3' x 3' camp fires are allowed all year round. Paper, cardboard and building materials cannot be burned.
Garage Sale
You do not need a permit from the Village to hold a garage sale. Note that signage advertising your sale can only be placed on your property. The Village does not permit offsite advertising. Only two garage sales may be conducted on the same premises by the same household within any calendar year. For further information, see Section 43.33 of the Johnsburg Municipal Code.
