Electronic Waste Recycling & Brush Drop Off​
The McHenry Township Road District is again partnering with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County to offer recycling programs for McHenry Township residents. Your 2025 opportunity to recycle is Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be NO drop off of recycling items during the week. Village of Johnsburg 2025 Road Resurfacing Program - Reminder
Work starting on the 2025 Road Resurfacing Program which includes more than three (3) miles of neighborhood roads that will be performed by Geske and Sons, Inc. Signage and traffic control setup is expected to begin on Monday, June 16th followed by concrete work (where applicable). Milling of the roadways in Emberwood West, Niesens, Niesens Sunrise, Shiloh Ridge, and Sudeenew subdivisions will begin on or about June 30th (weather permitting). Anticipated resurfacing is projected to begin around July 14th with final restoration on or about 1st week of August 2025. Click here for further detailed information.

Party-in-the-Burg (P.I.T.B. 2025; Adults ONLY)
Tickets on sale now! The Village of Johnsburg and the Community Affairs Committee invites you to Party-in-the-Burg (adult night out) event Friday, July 25, 2025 from 6:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. Tickets on sale for $10 at the Village Hall or from your Community Affairs Committee Members and Trustees. Listen to local entertainer Justin Wallace & Pat McCurdy while enjoying a Food-Truck meal, B.Y.O.B. and your own lawn chairs. Click here for more information.

McHenry Township Fire Protection District - Life Jacket Loaner Program
MTFPD, in partnership with BoatUS Foundation, loans life jackets for a day or weekend. Fill out the form, or stop by the station at 3610 W. Elm Street, McHenry (corner of 120 & 31). Look for the entrance with the "Borrow Life Jackets Here" poster. Click here for further information. Life jacket rentals are first come based on availability. Alternatives to Landscape Waste Accumulation
There are other alternatives to burning your landscape materials. For more information, click here. The Health Department encourages more environmentally sound alternatives to burning of landscape waste and recommends composting, mulching and native landscaping as possible alternatives to reduce/reuse landscape waste, click here for further information. The Village's residential refuse and recycling service includes the removal of up to 8 bags or cans of landscape waste per week. For more information visit LRS - Johnsburg.
