2025 Park Improvements Underway/Road Resurfacing Soon To Begin!

Excavation began at Sunnyside Park this week in preparation for the pickleball courts, volleyball courts and additional play equipment being installed this year. The project has been made possible thanks to a generous donor and the excavation is being performed by public works and parks department employees to help contain costs. Construction of the improvements will soon be out for bid and the project is expected to be substantially complete by late fall.

Work also began on improvements in Lions Park on Hickory Way. Last week, public works and parks department employees performed the excavation needed to accommodate the parking lot and pad for the shelter planned for the park. Fabrication of the shelter is nearly complete and will be installed this summer along with benches and a pond aerator. Many thanks to the Johnsburg Lions Club whose charitable contribution made the improvements possible.

In Remington Grove subdivision, a basketball hoop, swings and a picnic table will soon be installed in the park on Jay Street. Watch for more updates on this project once the equipment is received and ready for installation.

The first phase of a sidewalk extension project began on Johnsburg Road this week. This first phase is the final component of the Church Street Realignment Project. The second phase of the project will be done later this summer in conjunction with the Johnsburg Road Resurfacing Project, which will be out to bid in June.

Bids have been awarded for the 2025 Road Resurfacing Project consisting of all of the roads in Emberwood West, Niesens, Niesens Sunrise, Shiloh Ridge, and Sudeenew subdivisions. Construction updates will be provided when available.

Many thanks to the committees, volunteers and staff who contribute greatly to making these projects a reality.
