Vietnam Veteran Pinning Ceremony hosted by Congressman Schneider
Inviting you to a Vietnam Veteran Pinning Ceremony hosted by Congressman Schneider on January 20th from 1:30pm - 2:30pm at the Johnsburg Public Library (3000 N. Johnsburg Road). Congressman Schneider is honored to be able to recognize and honor our community’s Vietnam War Veterans and their great sacrifice. Click here for the event link for additional information, must "reserve a spot" if Veterans Pinning. We would be honored if you could join us at the ceremony. Congressman Schneider's staff will also be available to share some of the ways thier office a can be of assistance. Questions? Johnsburg Sled Hill - Open
That’s right, the Village of Johnsburg has a Sled Hill! Sunnyside Memorial Park (1515 Channel Beach Ave) and it is available to all residents. Please ensure to comply with the posted Sled Hill Rules or click here for Municipal Code Ch. 8.

Johnsburg Outdoor Ice Rink - Open
The Village of Johnsburg has the Ice Rink! Rescue Squad Park (2410 W. Johnsburg Rd) and it is available to all residents. Please ensure to comply with the posted Ice Rink Rules or click here for Municipal Code Ch. 8. Surface preparations are completed in the a.m. hours for afternoon and evening skating, if snow accumulates on-top we ask to stay off the ice until preparations for day are completed.

LRS - Residential Garbage, Recycling and Christmas Tree Service Delay - Important Winter Weather Update!
LRS thanks you for your patience as they recover and realign services due to previous week’s inclement weather. They are asking residents to hold their recycling until their next scheduled service, at which time they will take ALL recycling. There were some areas on Friday/Saturday street routes that were not safely passable due to snow accumulation. They are asking residents to hold any remaining trash and/or recycling until their next scheduled day. Again, at that time they will make sure to take ALL volume at no charge. This includes the Christmas Trees as long as they are out there. It may take time for them to thaw out, but once free they will get them on service days.

Please take note of these winter weather tips to help things run smoothly:

1. Clear Your Carts and Containers -
   Remove any snow or ice from the wheels and lids on your carts and containers. This ensures our team can access them safely and efficiently.
2. Create a Pathway -
   Clear a pathway around your carts and containers, making it easier for our crew to navigate through snowy and icy conditions.

McHenry County Lead Safe Homes Program
The mission of the program is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning in all low and moderate income privately owned rental and/or owner occupied housing populations throughout McHenry County. This goal will be achieved using identification and control of lead-based paint hazards. They are committed to making healthy homes and safe environments available to all children aged 5 and under in the county by addressing a multitude of hazards in area homes where children are or can be present. Scout Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Cub Scout Pack 214 & Troop 459 invite you to their annual pancake breakfast and silent auction fundraiser Saturday, February 17^th from 9:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. at the McHenry Moose Lodge #691 - Loyal Order of Moose (3535 N. Richmond Rd). Money raised through this fundraiser will allow the troop and pack to offset the rising cost of outings, camping, equipment and other various necessities used by the organizations. Friendly Reminders from Village of Johnsburg
Snow and ice removal operations are a battle against inclement weather. The Johnsburg Public Works Department takes whatever steps it can to keep our roadways safe and passable. During and after inclement weather, the following guidelines shall apply: Primary roads and bus routes are plowed first. Secondary subdivision roads shall be addressed next. Cul-de-sacs and private roads shall be plowed once all other roadways are addressed. Salt application will be focused on primary roads, intersections, hills and curves. On street parking is prohibited between the hours of 2:00a.m. and 6:00a.m. Additionally, parking of any vehicle on any public street in the Village after two (2) inches of snowfall is prohibited. Failure to remove any such vehicle shall constitute a violation and such vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense. Click here for further information regarding Snow Removal and Ice Control.

Winter Weather – Get it Together,’ plan ahead for snow and ice...
Now is a crucial time to begin practicing basic winter driving skills and preparing for even routine trips to take longer to complete, though temperatures are above freezing during the day and roads appear clear. As part of the “Winter Weather – Get it Together” campaign, travelers are encouraged to follow these simple guidelines. Asking drivers to help us protect them by slowing down during storms and increasing their distance from other vehicles, especially snowplows and emergency responders. If they become stranded along the road, drivers should dial *999 for assistance and remain with their vehicles because even during severe weather, help is only a phone call away.

ComEd – Snow Reminder
ComEd is planning for the winter months. In preparation, they have provided the following guidelines: ComEd transformers and/or switch gear on your property that may need to be accessed in the winter. Occasionally after a snowstorm, snow removal efforts will result in buried or blocked access to critical ComEd equipment. If there is a need to access ComEd equipment, at least ten feet of open space in front of the equipment’s cabinet doors is required. Additionally, at least one (1) foot of clearance on the remaining three (3) sides of the equipment is necessary. If you do lose power, call 1-800-EDISON-1 to start the restoration process.

Open Burning of Landscape Waste - Prohibited!
Keep in mind that the burning of landscape waste is not permitted at this time, violators will be fined. Landscape waste can only be burned during the months of April, May, October and November provided that setbacks and other requirements can be met. Recreational fires and ceremonial fires are exempt but may not be larger than 3’x3’x3’ and cannot contain leaves, grass or shrubbery clippings. Click here for the requirements.
