SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES
Now more than ever our local businesses need your support. The Village developed a voucher program known as “Johnsburg Bucks”, which will provide each Johnsburg household a voucher to be used at Village businesses that have chosen to participate. The program is intended to help improve the local economy during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing our residents funds that can be used at local businesses.

Contact your favorite Johnsburg restaurant to see if they are providing carryout, curbside or delivery services. Don’t forget about your local grocery stores, gas stations, and the many other Johnsburg businesses providing essential services.

JOHNSBURG ROAD BRIDGE (at Johnsburg Road/Riverside Drive)
Over the past few weeks, motorist have encountered a partial closure of the left turn lane at the intersection of Johnsburg Road and Riverside Drive.  The closure was done in response to additional deficiencies observed on load bearing beams supporting the bridge. The McHenry County Division of Transportation first observed stress on the bridge last year during regular bridge inspections and in response, installed traffic markers to direct traffic away from the affected beams. Since that time, inspections have occurred at increased frequencies. During a recent inspection, signs of additional stress were detected resulting in the need to close much of the left turn lane for traffic turning southbound onto Riverside Drive. To help prevent backups in the westbound traffic lane, the timing of the traffic signal has been altered to enable left turn and west bound traffic an opportunity to clear the intersection before signaling eastbound traffic to proceed.

The partial closure to the left turn lane addresses the immediate concern and will remain in place until a more permanent, long term solution can be implemented. Additional permanent markers have been installed to replace the temporary construction barrels closing the affected portion of the left turn lane. Johnsburg Road, between Route 31 and the roundabout, is a County roadway, therefore the McHenry County Division of Transportation will continue to inspect and monitor the bridge for additional deficiencies in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation to ensure the public's safety.

ComEd – Snow Reminder
This seems like an unusual early message to receive in the fall, but ComEd is already planning ahead for the winter months. Reminding you may have ComEd transformers and/or switchgear on your property that may need to be accessed in the winter. Occasionally after a snowstorm, snow removal efforts will result in buried or blocked access to critical ComEd equipment. In order to be able to safely access their equipment if necessary, they need to ensure that there is at least ten feet of open space in front of the equipment’s cabinet doors. Additionally, they need a foot of clearance on the remaining three sides of the equipment.
