Utilities Inc. - Public Meeting!
Utilities Inc. (now known as Prairie Path Water Company) will be host a meeting from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Johnsburg Community Club, 2315 W. Church Street, Johnsburg, Illinois. The Village has heard from many residents regarding their concerns related to the cost and quality of the water provided by Prairie Path Water Company. Residents served by the Prairie Path system are urged to attend this meeting.

Residential Yard Waste Service
The pickup of landscape waste is included with your residential garbage service.  Lakes Disposal will begin weekly pickup of landscape waste starting  April 1st. The service includes the collection of eight (8) bags, cans, or bundles of landscape waste per week. Landscape waste must be placed in biodegradable Kraft paper bags or plastic cans no larger than 35 gallons in size. Each yard waste bag, can or bundle may not exceed 50 lbs. Tree limbs, branches or brush must be bundled with twine, and may not exceed 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter, with individual branches not exceeding 3 inches in diameter. If you use cans for your landscape waste instead of biodegradable Kraft paper bags, please mark (paint) the cans containing landscape waste. This will help identify the landscape waste to the drivers so your pick up is not inadvertently missed. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.

Electronic Waste Recycling & Brush Drop Off
The McHenry Township Road District is again partnering with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County to offer recycling programs for McHenry Township residents. Your next opportunity to recycle is Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be NO drop off of recycling items during the week. Drop off is located in the township employee parking lot at 3703 N. Richmond Road. Click here for further information or click here for Green Guide.

Open Burning of Landscape Waste
Landscape waste may be burned on Saturdays and Sundays from dawn through dusk during Spring months of April and May. The burning of landscape waste is permitted only when winds are less than 10 mph. The burning site must be a minimum of 100’ from any principal structure and supervised at all times by an individual at least 18 years of age. A fire extinguisher, garden hose or water source must be available at the burning site. Prohibited at all times is the burning of manure, garbage, construction materials, litter, grass clippings (eff. 10/5/2021) and etc...on any property. We have seen and received multiple complaints of residents not complying with the ordinance, please be advised violators will be cited. Recreational fires and ceremonial fires are exempt but may not be larger than 3’x3’x3’ and cannot contain leaves, grass or shrubbery clippings. Click here for the requirements.

Alternatives to Landscape Waste Accumulation
