A Dedication Ceremony for the New David G. Dominguez Municipal Center
Village of Johnsburg will hold a dedication ceremony for the new David G. Dominguez Municipal Center on May 15th 2022, at 2:00p.m.
Residents of the Village of Johnsburg are invited to attend and celebrate the life of former Village of Johnsburg President David G. Dominguez and the opening of the new facility named after our inspirational leader and friend.
The Event
The dedication ceremony is a special event for our community. David’s wife, Sue Dominguez, and family will join us in unveiling the Dedication Monument Plaque before the community.
There will be a ribbon-cutting, refreshments, and a tour of the new space.
A New Village Hall and Police Station
Until recently, our village hall and police station stood separately, and the hall, though full of fond memories, needed to be renovated for our growing community.
This new Municipal Center brings together the Village’s Administration and Public Safety services under one roof, enabling us to more effectively serve the resident of Johnsburg. The new spacious board room is design to function as a great meeting space for homeowner’s associations and local organizations.
The Expansion Project
The expansion project started with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 11th, 2021, and has taken a year to complete. It involved everything from excavation to carpentry, roofing, landscaping and updated video surveillance.
Program Validation and Schematic Design was completed by Kluber Architects & Engineers, who also shared a story about our groundbreaking ceremony in April 2021.
Who is David G. Dominguez?
This new facility honors the vision of a great man who was instrumental in making Johnsburg the community we know and love. David Dominguez, knew that in order to secure Johnsburg’s future it would take a dedicated team of people with a common vision willing to work hard and take a leap of faith. He introduced us to the Strategic Planning process which helped us to identify both long and short term goals and directed us on a path to achieve those goals.
Under Dave’s leadership, we developed the Public Works Department and grew our Administration and Public Safety Departments into full time operations with expanded services. Thanks to Dave’s vision, we now have potable water and sewer systems, which enabled us to develop a commercial tax base in our Route 31 corridor. So much of what we enjoy today would not be possible without Dave’s wisdom and vision helping to lead the way.
Johnsburg is a community of hardworking, dedicated people and Dave was a leader that knew how to bring people together, harness all of those qualities and do great things. This new facility is a symbol of what we can accomplish through good planning and by working together to turn dreams into reality.
David G. Dominguez was the President of the village we call home, serving in this role from 1997 onwards. David was born on June 30th, 1944 in Chicago, and sadly passed away on April 1st, 2009.
