Church Street Realignment Project - East of Johnsburg Rd - (1716 - 1814 Block)
Church Street (between N. Johnsburg Road and Sunnyside Beach Drive) is currently open, final surface paving is complete along with shoulder gravel and landscaping stabilization. Anticipated look ahead involves striping, crosswalk installation and minor concrete work (weather permitting).

Sunnyside Beach Road Improvement Project
Today, Wednesday (11/22) contractors will be finishing first layer of asphalt surface course and continue final asphalt surface until end of day, no contractor road work will be performed over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Anticipated look ahead schedule for next week beginning Monday (11/27) will be completion of the final asphalt surface leading into shoulder gravel stabilization (weather permitting). We ask you kindly avoid or remain off the shoulder gravel with parking and/or maneuvering until it has reached its compaction settlement. They will be making sure that traffic can move in and out of the neighborhood as they go, process does involve a moving road-closure. As the crew is moving, access to either your parking spot or driveway will be limited or closed. We kindly request some further patience as we are reaching the end of substantial completion. Once the asphalt surface is applied and compacted, you will be able to drive on it like normal. This might be by the end of the day. This may cause residents to have ingress and egress via the N Riverview Dr. or Church St. access points for residents along Sunnyside Beach Dr. Click here for further information and temporary alterative parking available.

Road Construction Announcement
During construction hours please expect dirt, dust and noise from the construction operations. Minor delays and inconveniences may be experienced. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact the Village Hall at 815-385-6023. Watch for more updates as more information becomes available.

‘Winter Weather – Get it Together,’ plan ahead for snow and ice...
Now is a crucial time to begin practicing basic winter driving skills and preparing for even routine trips to take longer to complete, though temperatures are above freezing during the day and roads appear clear. As part of the “Winter Weather – Get it Together” campaign, travelers are encouraged to follow these simple guidelines. Asking drivers to help us protect them by slowing down during storms and increasing their distance from other vehicles, especially snowplows and emergency responders. If they become stranded along the road, drivers should dial *999 for assistance and remain with their vehicles because even during severe weather, help is only a phone call away.

ComEd – Snow Reminder
ComEd is planning for the winter months. In preparation, they have provided the following guidelines: ComEd transformers and/or switch gear on your property that may need to be accessed in the winter. Occasionally after a snowstorm, snow removal efforts will result in buried or blocked access to critical ComEd equipment. If there is a need to access ComEd equipment, at least ten feet of open space in front of the equipment’s cabinet doors is required. Additionally, at least one (1) foot of clearance on the remaining three (3) sides of the equipment is necessary. If you do lose power, call 1-800-EDISON-1 to start the restoration process.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Click here for more information and registration details, registration online beginning January 24th.

Friendly Reminders from Village of Johnsburg
Blowing Leaves into the Roadway is Prohibited! Accumulating your leaves and dumping on vacant parcels, conservation and/or conservancy property or dumping into creeks and river is Prohibited! The Johnsburg Public Works Department has noted an increase in residents blowing leaves from their yards into the roadway and/or dumping to conservation and/or conservancy property. Please note that depositing leaves in the roadway creates a public safety hazard and negatively impacts the Village's roads and stormwater systems. Depositing and burning leaves in ditches and along the road is also prohibited. These activities are a violation of both local and State regulations and violators will be cited. Click here Ch.12.02(B)(11) for further information.
