Building Permit Application & Building Permit Checklist

A Building Permit is required for construction of a new building or accessory structure or an addition to an existing structure that increases or reduces its size, creates any structural changes, or involves extensive plumbing or electrical work. Most building projects require a permit to ensure that the project meets Village and other related building codes for safety and structural integrity. Homeowners can do many of their own construction projects. Please submit a Building Permit Application and the Building Permit Checklist linked below.

Building Permits can submitted at the Village Hall during regular business hours or emailed to building@johnsburg.org. We kindly request to transmit via email to building@johnsburg.org all checklist requirements and supporting correspondence in .pdf, which are fillable.

*Note: At a minimum Blueprints and/or Drawings (Lic. Prof. Stamp) must be submitted electronically, we no longer except large scale plan sets via hard copies. Reviews are completed electronically, please use fillable applications and electronic email submission by way of attaching supporting correspondence.
