January
After the busy holiday season, January is a great time to take stock, relax, and make sure that you take the time to care for yourself. There is no better way to do this than by booking an appointment with Chapel Hill Bodyworks, our fantastic massage therapy and wellness center. Serving McHenry County for over 16 years, Chapel Hill Bodyworks offers a full range of therapies and services. Massage Envy also offers massages and facials, and is a popular spot to recharge!
The new year is also a great time for kids to try out a new hobby. Kick the year off by enrolling your little one in gymnastics classes at Fire House Gym! They have a whole range of classes, from Mum and Me sessions and preschool gymnastics to classes for competitions and Fire Cheer teams; there is something for everyone! Fox Valley Power Tumbling also offers recreational classes and trampolining classes that’ll have your little ones bouncing with joy!
February
Palace Bowl and Raymond’s Bowl and Entertainment Center are great places to meet with friends and enjoy a game of bowling before heading to the bar for some delicious chicken wings or pizza. If you find yourself falling in love with the game, you should consider joining one of the many leagues available. Whether you join just for fun or have a competitive edge, Raymond’s Bowl has the league for you. They even have a junior league for kids!
March
In the month of March, why not go out and experience all the culinary delights that Johnsburg, IL, has to offer. Johnsburg has some great restaurants including The Lake House on Pistakee, which has a beautiful setting, Half Time Bar & Grill which serves irresistible pizza and pub food, and Granny’s Diner of Johnsburg, serving delicious, wholesome American food - try one of their kitchen sink plates! April
April is a great month for getting outside in the fresh air and partaking in a bike ride, walk, or run along the Prairie Trail! With the Prairie Trail stretching for 26 miles, you are in for a treat with all of the scenic views it has to offer. With the sites open from sunrise to sunset, take the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area on your doorstep. Why not see if you can spot any Monarch butterflies? After signing the National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge, we’re hoping to see a lot more of these beautiful butterflies.

It’s time to register your boats with the Fox Waterway Agency. Mark your calendar, it’s the first sign that summer is on the way. Start planning all the days out on the lake you’ll enjoy!
June
Join in the fun at the Pistakee Yacht Club in June! The Pistakee Yacht Club hosts picnics, races, and many other social events, as well as schooling in sailing. It offers members the amazing opportunity to sail their boats off the shore of Pistakee Lake.
July
The Pistakee Bay fireworks are not to be missed in July. A wholesome, feel-good family event, the Pistakee Bay fireworks always take place near the 4th of July to celebrate our Declaration of Independence. August
The Chain O’Lakes, Pistakee Lake, and Nippersink Lake are calling! Whether you enjoy fishing, tubing, motorboating or kayaking, your free time is best spent on the water in August. Bring a picnic and enjoy a family day out, or spend some alone-time reading or listening to music, out on the lake.
September
In Johnsburg, September means Saufen und Spiel! Our event of the year includes an annual black light beanbag tournament, live music, and a parade. October
It wouldn’t be October without our annual Celebration in the Park event! We love this opportunity to get together and celebrate Johnsburg, IL, and what our community means to us all. The month of October also conjures up thoughts of cozy evenings as the days get shorter, and all the fun that Halloween brings! Get ready for this year’s trick-or-treaters by decorating your house for the spooky season and whipping up some delicious homemade treats. Get creative with your costume to give anyone knocking on your door a fright!
November
Thanksgiving is a special time of year in Johnsburg, and across the United States. Our village will welcome family members from far and wide, returning to a place they will always call home. Share photos of your Thanksgiving celebrations with us on Facebook and Instagram. Out of town guests will have a wonderful stay at the Waterfront Hotel!
Veterans Day on the 11th of November is also a special day. Commemorate together with loved ones as we think about current and former members of the United States Armed Forces. Ceremonies and parades will be taking place, with many of these events near Chicago and across the Chicagoland suburbs.
December
The Holiday Magic Parade will come around quicker than you know. Start planning how you are going to decorate if your house is on the route, or consider joining in with your own float! This is a wonderful holiday event near Chicago that gets everyone in the festive spirit, and it’s especially for the residents of Johnsburg!
