Johnsburg Walmart Supercenter

(Johnsburg, IL)   Walmart announced today that the permitting process is well under way for the new Johnsburg Walmart Supercenter that will be located on Route 31 at Running Brook Farm Blvd.

“We are thrilled that this very complicated and involved process continues to move forward,” said Village President David Dominguez.  “The end result will be a wonderful new Walmart that will not only enhance our community, but provide approximately 180 new jobs and expand our non-residential tax base.”

“Our Wal-Mart team of real estate brokers, engineers, lawyers, environmental consultants and architects have been diligently working to make the opening a Johnsburg Supercenter a reality in 2010,”  said B. John Bisio, Wal-Mart Manager of Public Affairs.  “We believe that by late spring or early summer,  2009 our store plan will receive the necessary approvals from the agencies and entities involved in the  process.   We are hopeful that our construction bidding process will be able to take place immediately thereafter, ground broken in the fall and the store opened in late spring/early summer, 2010.”
The approximately 175,000 square foot Walmart Supercenter will reflect the appealing new Wal-Mart construction prototype will offer customers nearly 100,000 products, combining full grocery lines and general merchandise under one roof at Walmart’s signature Every Day Low Prices.  The new supercenter will feature 36 general merchandise departments, an expanded lawn and garden center, a full line of electronics, a large health and beauty aids department, and a pharmacy.  In addition, the grocery area features a bakery, delicatessen, frozen food department, meat department, fresh produce section, and a dairy department.
