Q. When are vehicle stickers due and where can they be purchased?
A. Vehicle stickers are due by July 31st and can be purchased at the Village Hall or through the mail.
Q. Do I need a vehicle sticker for a company owned vehicle?
A. Any vehicle housed or registered in the Village for more than 30 days per year requires a sticker. If the company owned car has a city sticker from the city it is registered in, you are not required to get a Johnsburg sticker.
Q. Can I park overnight on Village streets?
A. There is no parking allowed on any Village street from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. or whenever two or more inches of snow is expected. If you are having work performed on your driveway and you must park on the road, notify the Johnsburg Police Department at 815-385-6024 prior to the work date(s).
Q. What is the holiday garbage pickup schedule?
A. Waste Management recognizes New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day as holidays. If any of the above holidays fall on a week day, pick up will be on Saturdays.
Q. Where can I register my dog to be in compliance?
A. All dogs are required to be registered with McHenry County Animal Control. They can be reached at 815-334-4470.
Q. When is the Village Hall open?
A. The Village Hall is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Q. When are building permits required?
A. Building Permits are required for all new construction, additions, alterations to structural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, decks, siding, roofing, fireplaces, demolition, driveways and culverts, fences, sheds, piers, seawalls, relocation of structures, signs, above ground and in ground pools including hot tubs and changing out windows and doors if altering size. If in doubt, please check with the building department before starting any work.
Q. What building codes have been adopted by the Village?
A. The Village has adopted the 2006 International Building Code; 2006 International Residential Code; 2006 International Mechanical Code; 2006 International Property Maintenance Code; 2006 International Energy Conservation Code; 2006 International Fuel Gas Code; 2005 National Electric Code and the 2004 Illinois Plumbing Code.
Q. When can I burn yard waste?
A. Burning in the Village is restricted to on site generated yard waste and is allowed only during weekends in the months of April, May, October and November from dawn to dusk. Burning must be at least 100 feet from any habital structure and 50 feet from any accessory stucture. 3' x 3' x 3' camp fires are allowed all year around. Paper, cardboard and buiding materials cannot be burned.
Q. What are the hours for Trick or Treating in the Village?
A. Trick or Treating is always on October 31st from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Q. Where are the Village parks located?
A. The Village has two improved parks.
• Sunnyside Memorial Park is on Channel Beach Avenue, right behind the Village Hall. It is equipped with soccer fields, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, playground equipment and a shelter.
• Hiller Park is located at the end of Skyhawk Lane, behind the high school. It is equipped with soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, playground equipment and a concession stand with shelter.

Q. What can I do if there are properties in my neighborhood that are overgrown with weeds or in violation of other Village nuisance ordinances?
A. You can contact Jerry Adams in the Building Department at 815-385-6023 to report the matter.
